We recommend arriving a few days before the wedding so you have enough time to explore Helsinki and adjust to the jet lag. You can arrive latest by Thursday 8/20, which means you'll need to leave NY on Wednesday evening.
Public transportation is excellent in the city. You'll have busses, tram, train, subway as well as citibikes and scooters. They are all safe options. We don't recommend renting a car since parking can be difficult.
Please download the "HSL" app. From there, you can look up routes and buy tickets for any form of transportation. If you prefer you can buy a paper ticket from "R-kioski". It's a kiosk that can be found around the city and the airport. -- https://www.hsl.fi/en/tickets-and-fares/hsl-app
The train is the quickest and cheapest option. Any train from the airport will take you to the city. You will need an ABC zone ticket to get you to the city center. Of course, taxi is always an option.
Make sure it doesn't expire within 6 months of traveling. By the time you return to the US, you should have 6 months or more left on your passport.

The hotels recommended in our travel section are all close to our wedding venue and in a great location. If you decide to go another route, most hotels in the city center are excellent choices. Airbnb can also be an option. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions/concerns with accommodations you find.
While we adore all of our friends and family we kindly ask you keep it to whose name is on the invite. That applies to children as well.
The dress code is cocktail or formal attire.
