Nevada City, CA is a small former gold mining town located 60 miles northeast of Sacramento, 84 miles southwest of Reno, and 147 miles northeast of San Francisco. It was the stateās most important mining town during the Gold Rush era (according to Wikipedia), and is considered the best preserved in California (a former gold mine is a popular local attraction). Today it has a quaint, nostalgic, and somewhat hippy vibe, with a cute downtown filled with Victorian style houses, dive bars, and quirky antique shops. Along with neighboring Grass Valley, thereās also a thriving craft beer scene, which is definitely worth exploring! Laura and her family have been visiting the area for years, and itās become one of our favorite local getaways. Weāre excited to share it with you throughout our wedding weekend!
