As many of you may know, we have lived together for several years. As a result, we already own many of the items most couples would request on a wedding registry. Gifts are not expected, simply your presence is requested. For those compelled to give something, we ask that donations be made to one of our favorite charities, the Mike Rowe Works Foundation or The Jed Foundation.
Mike Rowe Works Foundation
Each year, we give away a modest pile of money through the Work Ethic Scholarship Program to help people get trained for skilled jobs that are in demand. We’ve proven that opportunities in the trades aren’t alternatives to viable careers – they are viable careers. Through this program, we encourage people to learn a useful skill, and we reward those who demonstrate that they’ll work their butts off. When it comes to hard work, there is no alternative. Since our inception, we’ve granted $16 million in work ethic scholarships. Your donation supports our efforts to shine a light on the trades and help close the skills gap. Thank you!
The Jed Foundation
Today, 1 in 4 young people experience a mental illness, with issues like anxiety and depression impeding the academic and personal success of many.
