Matron of Honor
You don't get to choose your sisters, but I am glad that Katelyn is one of mine. She was the one I looked up to while swimming for Kingfish and scooping ice cream for FarFar's. Although our music taste may not align, we can agree that if Bohemian Rhapsody comes on, you have to sing the entire thing. From our Beanie Babies and Pokemon days to our hours long phone call gossip sessions, I have always been and will always be thankful to have her around!
Maid of Honor
She was the token youngest subjected to doing whatever we wanted, but Lissie always took it like a champ. Between ice in the bra challenges, games of sardines and play house, she certainly didn't think twice about joining in the shenanigans my friends and I created. She also was a pretty good roommate for years, keeping her mess on her half of the room and agreeing that we had no shame in making Kevin kill any bugs that we spotted on our ceilings. I am so lucky to have her in my life!
Bridesmaid
We made it through the the middle school years together, awkwardness and all, so that is how you know we are friends for life. Rather than be "cool kids" we spent many nights reading People magazine and watching Bruins games. The one time we were "cool kids" we didn't even recognize a famous rapper who shared an elevator with us to a club...I am so happy that despite all of the weird things we did in middle school and high school we are still as close as ever today!
Bridesmaid
Given that we have only lived in the same state for 2 years of our now 12+ year friendship, I would say that Allie and I have found kindred spirits in each other. We were (and kind of still are) the nerds who nearly made people cry when we cross examined them in a mock trial, wore Pooh themed costumes for Spirit Week, and regularly shared book recommendations. Sometimes I am amazed we have stayed friends, but I know my life is better with Allie in it!
Best Man
With less than two years separating us, my goal was always to catch up to whatever big brother Michael was doing. This has given us some good races with each other in cross country. I am sure this gave our mom a good case of anxiety when we both decided to live abroad the same year. I am so glad to be able to call Michael my brother and Best Man!
Groomsman
As the youngest of three boys, Daniel knew he had to be tough to make his voice heard. From his days of playing wiffle ball with kids twice his age to us older brothers seeing how small of spaces he could fit, Daniel has always risen to the occasion. It has been a pleasure seeing Daniel grow from being my little brother to a full grown adult with a 401k.
Groomsman
When Kevin wants to go on a “casual” run, I have learned that is really code for him asking if I okay with feeling like a sack of potatoes for the rest of the day. Whatever Kevin does is full of energy, whether it is coming up with a rap album or also deciding to do something called a PhD. I am proud to soon be able to call Kevin my brother-in-law.
Groomsman
The image you see if from the day when Khoi and I did the Great Lakes Challenge, which is where you swim in the four Great Lakes that border Michigan in one day. It was only when we left to head out at 5am did he realize what he had signed up for. That day is a good snapshot of our friendship where we sign up for challenges that we do not fully comprehend at the time (ask him about the paper cranes). Glad to have Khoi be one of my groomsmen.
