Historic Downtown Truckee
Exploring historic downtown Truckee is a lovely way to get to know our home! Stroll through charming historic streets filled with local shops, art galleries, cafés, and great restaurants.
Donner Memorial State Park
Head to the Donner Lake State Park for beautiful walking trails and a chance to dip in the lake on a warm day!
Palisades Tahoe
The Village at Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) offers excellent shopping and dining. We love hiking the Shirley Canyon Trail to the top of Palisades and then taking the Tram back down to the village. Just be sure to check the tram schedule first!
Lake Tahoe
First time to Truckee? Consider a quick trip over to Lake Tahoe! Just 20 minutes away, perfect for boating, beaches, paddleboarding, and scenic drives. From Truckee, we recommend checking out areas near Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay, or Kings Beach. Picnic Rock is also a relatively short hike with a scenic view of Lake Tahoe if you can't make it all the way there.
Truckee River Legacy Trail
A paved, scenic trail along the Truckee river — easy for walking, biking, or a relaxed outing. We often start at the Glenshire Trailhead but you can get on the trail at several scenic points. Just check it out on Google maps!
Hiking
Some of our favorite hikes in the area include Sagehen Creek, Five Lakes, Shirley Canyon, Donner Peak, Mount Judah, Johnson Canyon, and Picnic Rock. Please reach out for any other recommendations or questions!
Mountain Biking
Some of our favorite mountain bike trails include Happy Face/Woodsplitter out by the Sawtooth Trailhead, Flying Squirrel in Tahoe Donner, Donner Lake Rim Trail, and Jackass. If you are up for heading over to Lake Tahoe, the views from the Tahoe Rim and Flume Trail can't be beat! We recommend booking a shuttle with Flume Tail Bikes.

Moody's is our favorite date night spot in downtown Truckee!

Upscale Italian restaurant in downtown Truckee with a warm atmosphere and fantastic food. Reservations recommended.
Red Truck
The food is delicious and the entertainment is wonderful as you watch the small planes flying around the Truckee airport. Great spot for kids.
Alibi Ale Works - Truckee Public House
A popular craft brewery, beer garden, and brewpub in downtown Truckee with some great food options.
RMU Truckee
A lively bar, restaurant, and ski/bike shop that offers nightly entertainment and great cocktails!
