If you were ever an internet dater, maybe you recall the dating app OKCupid. Prior to tinder days, this was a popular destination where one could find a date and apparently everlasting love. As fate would have it we swiped right on each other, however, it took almost two months of back and forth small talk before we actually decided to meet. At the time, Matt was on crutches from a skateboarding accident so he wasn't able to drive. It was the end of a photoshoot day at The Forge for Matt, and Lauren agreed to pick him up (picking up an internet stranger, not the smartest idea but luckily he wasn't a serial killer). It was a spontaneous night with nothing planned (as per usual with Matt) but Lauren didn't realize that at the time. We went to a mediocre sushi restaurant that we stumbled across while walking downtown, then to a boujee nightclub to watch Matt's friends perform an aerial show. Shortly after, Matt thought it was a good idea to go dancing, regardless of the fact that he was on crutches. We found ourselves at The Lash (if you're from LA, you probably know the scene there), and ended up droppin it like it was hot all night to a copious amount of gangster rap. I'm sure there are internet videos somewhere of that scene because he looked ridiculous dancing on crutches with a knee-high cast. Neither of us were looking for anything serious, but little did we know that random and fun night would be the beginning of the rest of our lives together.
