Things To Do

All of these spots are places we’ve personally tried (and loved!). Whether you’re looking for tacos, cocktails, museums, or music, we’ve got you covered. If you're feeling extra adventurous and want some hidden gems, just reach out — we have plenty more where this came from. Icon Key: 💬 = English-friendly 🌟 = Stand-out spot for visitors 👯 = Good for larger groups 🚀 = Adventurous/less touristy P.S. If you are planning a longer stay in CDMX, reach out! We have so many more!

Museums & Cultural Sites

Palacio de Bellas Artes + Templo Mayor

Two essentials if you're exploring Centro — a gorgeous palace with Diego Rivera murals and ancient Aztec ruins tucked right behind it. Easy to hit both in one trip. 💬 🌟

Museo Nacional de Antropología

A massive museum packed with iconic pieces like the Aztec Sun Stone. You’ll want at least a couple of hours to do it justice. Located inside Chapultepec Park. 💬 🌟

Casa Azul (Frida Kahlo Museum)

Frida Kahlo’s bright, personal, deeply moving home in Coyoacán. We called our rental house in Austin Casa Azul after the house! Book your timed tickets early — they sell out fast! About 25–30 minutes from Roma Norte. 🚀 💬

Restaurants

Quintonil ($$$$)

Contemporary Mexican fine dining that's somehow both elegant and unfussy. Seasonal, beautiful, and completely worth it. We actually preferred Quintonil over Pujol. 🌟 💬

Contramar ($$$)

Iconic daytime seafood spot — the place for the famous red-and-green grilled fish and tuna tostadas. Super lively at lunch; book ahead. 🌟 💬 👯

Blanco Colima ($$$)

Elegant cocktails, beautiful old mansion, great food. Perfect if you want dinner that turns into drinks without moving. 💬 👯

Tacos Orinoco ($)

Trompo, flour tortillas, late-night perfection. Super casual, super reliable, and always buzzing. 💬 👯

El Pescadito ($)

Baja-style fried seafood tacos. Very casual, very good — best location is in Condesa. 💬

Panadería Rosetta ($)

An iconic bakery for a reason — life-changing guava pastries, breads, and casual lunches. 💬

Panadería Marcel ($)

A cozy little bakery for savory and sweet breakfast pastries — perfect for a quick morning bite. 💬

Bars

Licorería Limantour ($$$)

One of the world’s best cocktail bars — polished, fun, and somehow still laid-back. Try the Margarita al Pastor if you want to be cool. 💬 🌟 👯

Handshake Speakeasy ($$$)

Vibey, serious cocktails hidden behind an unmarked door. Definitely book ahead if you want a spot. 💬 🌟

Salón Palomilla ($$)

Low-key rooftop above a taco place — perfect for early evening cocktails or sunset hangouts before going out. 💬

Baltra ($$)

Botanical vibes, great martinis, and a super cozy setup. Ideal for small groups who just want to chill. 💬

Casa Franca ($$)

Romantic, tucked-away jazz club in Roma Norte — cocktails, live music, and just the right amount of moody. Reservations a good idea. 💬

Casa de Nadie ($$)

Vinyl DJs, mezcal drinks, and casual energy — think less polished, more fun. 🚀 👯

El Departamento ($$)

Feels like a friend's artsy apartment turned into a party. Starts chill, gets dancey. 🚀 👯

Jardín Juárez ($$)

Open-air, casual garden bar with rotating DJs and a mezcal focus. Fun, festive group spot. 🚀 👯

Bar Oriente ($$)

Late-night music and dancing with a slightly fancier vibe. Good for when you want to stay out but keep it stylish. 🚀 👯
