Michael’s Story
Adam Smoler is one of Michael's best friends from college: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Adam and his then-fiancé (now wife) Stacey suggested we go on a double date to meet Stacey's friend from college, Jenn, who like Michael was also looking to date.
The plan was to meet at Cantina Laredo in River North for dinner. Like Jenn, Michael is a planner, down to the tee, and he was planning on taking the L to dinner all week leading up to the double date. Michael was so nervous, rather than taking the L, Michael decided to walk the 30 minutes to dinner instead!
The dinner went great, and then after we walked around the corner for another drink at Rock Bottom Brewing Co. before Jenn took the Metra back to the suburbs. Again, nervous energy struck and Michael did the face-palm impossible: He failed to get Jenn's number. Stacey asked if he wanted it and he said a resounding “yes.”
The following weekend, they hung out on St. Patrick's Day downtown and the rest is history!
