Emma and Gabe met at Macalester College in September 2015, on the floor of a dorm room in Turck Hall. They quickly became friends, bonding over the Pacific Northwest, being nerds, and the IB Program (aka being super nerds). After an exciting fall break trip to Chicago, they decided to give romance a shot, and to this day Chicago still holds a special place in their hearts. Gabe visited Emma in Seattle for New Years Eve 2015, and they told each other they loved each other for the first time. Throughout their first and sophomore years of college, they visited each other on breaks and had initial adventures to Mount Rainier and New York City. A week before leaving for study abroad in Japan and France, Emma surprised Gabe in Eugene for one final goodbye, during a solar eclipse no less! While study abroad was challenging, they both loved the chance to further their education. Emma spent their second anniversary on the train to the United Kingdom while Gabe studied Japanese vocabulary. After returning to Macalester from their semesters abroad, they fell deeper in love and continued to explore the Twin Cities and beyond. This included a Spring Break trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in 2019. In May 2019 Emma and Gabe both graduated Cum Laude from Macalester and moved in together in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gabe began working as a software engineer at Rally Health and Emma began her time in AmeriCorps as a college advisor. They also adopted Aragorn Daszkiewicz-Brown that August, completing their little family. They returned to Chicago that October to celebrate their fourth anniversary. They also celebrated their first Christmas together that year, splitting it between Gabe’s family in Michigan and Emma’s in Seattle. In March 2020, they began to isolate together from COVID, and despite the fact that they shared a 1 bedroom apartment, they did not kill each other. They made the most of their time in quarantine by playing games and going on walks and drives through the Twin Cities. While this was not the easiest time in their relationship, they prioritized their health and supported each other through the stress.
In July 2021, Emma and Gabe moved to West Hartford, Connecticut and began to explore the east coast. The move was prompted by Emma starting a job in admissions at Trinity College. Gabe continued to work for Rally Health remotely. Adjusting to the east coast included learning how to drive very fast, developing a deep appreciation for the art of breakfast sandwiches, and becoming more accustomed to the joys of Amtrak. A little less than a year later, in April, Gabe began working for Axoni, which is where he is currently employed. For Christmas 2022, Emma and Gabe joined Katya and Steven - Gabe’s parents - in France for a magical holiday season. They explored museums, boulangeries, and even spent a night in Normandy to visit Mont St Michel. On Christmas Eve, on the Pont du Change they watched the lights in the Seine. Gabe told Emma that he would propose in that moment if he had a ring, but alas, he did not have one. Emma proceeded to roast him about this for the next seven months. In June 2023 the couple moved to Boston, Massachusetts to complete their evolution into MAssholes and so Emma could start her new job at Brandeis University. That July, they took a trip to Scotland, Wales, England, and Belgium. After visiting with a friend in Edinburgh and exploring the highlands, they continued on to the Isle of Skye.
On the Isle of Skye, Emma and Gabe went to the Fairy Pools. Gabe (finally) proposed to Emma, telling her that he would propose if he had a ring - and this time he was prepared! They celebrated the next night at Edinbane Lodge with the best meal of their lives up until that point, then drove to Wales to celebrate further. Upon joining Emma’s family in Belgium they celebrated even more, and attended the wedding of Emma’s honorary brother Bruno. After returning they began to plan their wedding and settled into Boston. They have loved exploring the city, eating fantastic food, and seeing friends. Emma and Gabe are planning to honeymoon in New Zealand - including the Lord of the Rings tour - and Australia. They are still living in Boston and plan to stay there for at least a bit longer.
