Descanso Gardens is a beautiful place, it actually sits on 150 acres of land with tons of different plants that have been cultivated to what it is today. It is something that people travel from around the world to see and it is just down the mountain from the wedding venue, residing in the same town. Some of their garden space is constantly rotating depending on the holidays and seasons. If you are looking for something to do nearby, there is tons to explore on this property.
If you have ever been interested in the games played at the Rosebowl or wanted to see where the Rose Parade is held every year, the Rosebowl is a cool place to visit. Not far at all from the wedding location, the Rose Bowl has a 3 mile walking loop as well that can make for a nice way to work off all those extra wedding calories everyone ate and drank or to prepare for the eating and drinking there is to come.
If you are looking for somewhere local to eat, this is my favorite Mexican food place with the BEST salsa. Has always been what I look forward to whenever I am home. Order something small, you’ll definitely fill up on the chips and salsa, but if you don't the rest of their food is pretty good too. Definitely a staple in the Hunsaker household.
If you're coming from out of town and looking for something else to do nearby to make your visit to California a little more enjoyable, besides being in attendance to the wedding of the year, Universal Studios is within a 20-30 minute drive from the wedding destination.
If you want to see what all the "California Hype" is about, you will want to visit Huntington Beach. Although this is a bit away from the wedding location, if you don't mind a little bit of a drive, this is genuinely the best place to be all times of year and is what makes me love California. Every restaurant on Main Street in Huntington Beach is amazing and it is one of my favorite places in the whole world.
Many of you are coming from out of town, and some of you have never even been to California, if you are looking to stay a little longer than just the day of the wedding, I would absolutely suggest going to visit Disneyland, especially this time of year when the parks are spooky. It can be about a 45 minute drive to the parks so it may not necessarily be very close but if you are making this trip into a vacation then it is definitely worth the drive. If you have never been, everyone should experience this magic at least once. The churros are to die for, actually, and that is something that they have beat on Disney world.
