I will admit, this story may have ended after the first date if it were not for Seth's perseverance. In the week following the first date Seth would not stop asking Brooke to attend a concert at the State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg, WV. Four times he asked, and four times Brooke said that she could not go to the concert because her Neuro II exam was that Monday and she needed to study. Nothing came before studying for medical school. Finally, the day of the concert Seth asked one more time, he brought the extra ticket with him and all she would need to bring is a chair. Exasperated, Brooke turned to her study group and said, "This guy just won't leave me alone, doesn't he know I have a test?!" to which her good friend Sam said, "Brooke, it's 3pm and we are done studying, go to the concert." And so, Brooke went. The man waiting at the entrance to the West Virginia State Fair was not the man Brooke remembered from the previous week's date. Standing there in a blue tee shirt, kaki shorts and a baseball hat, she will never forget really seeing him for the first time. All night as the sun went down they bantered and laughed, listening to live music surrounded by the Indian Summer air. One song in particular Seth kept mentioning that Brooke was convinced she would not like. "The name makes it sound racist," she said jokingly to Seth. "You'll just have to see for yourself when they play it." Seth replied. And when Tyler Childers finally played 'Feathered Indians', Seth looked at Brooke and for the first time all night, she was speechless. The song, was perfect, and that moment, well, that moment was everything. This date, the second date, the one Brooke was so steadfast in dismissing, was magic and the start of the most amazing friendship, relationship and love that we (Seth and I) are so excited to celebrate with all of you.
