Aloha!

Brooke and Nelson's love story began Halloween night while they were getting ready for the night's festivities. Nelson and his coworkers, dressed as the Village People, were ready to take on the night and enter in to a costume contest. On their way down to the lobby, they overheard music playing in a hotel room nearby. They decided to knock on the door and when Brooke's best friend, 'Io, opened the door, they were surprised to find just two local Hawaiian girls getting ready with no plans for the evening. It was at that moment, Nelson popped his head over into the doorway and Brooke laid her eyes on him. The girls took a chance and decided to hang out with the guys they just met. They spent the rest of the night dancing and celebrating the guy's second place win in the costume contest. They stayed in touch week's later going out to dinner and getting to know one another. It wasn't until Nelson came along that Brooke was able to enjoy all of the beautiful things the island she moved to a year prior for her first "big girl" job had to offer. When it was time for Nelson to return home to Virginia Beach, VA, they stayed committed to keep in touch from 4,896 miles away. Brooke's mom lived in Woodbridge, VA at the time, so they would plan to travel back and forth visiting one another across the country. During those years, Brooke set a goal to live as close as she could to him. She moved to Seattle, WA (2017) and Denver, CO (2019) before getting the opportunity to transfer to Suffolk, VA in 2021 with her job. Since then, they have been creating new experiences with their family and friends.
