Rumor has it that we matched on dating apps several times, but each time, my messages were left on read. That is, until one day, I decided to do something unconventional. My message to her was something along the lines of: "Are we actually going to meet up..lets go rock climbing?" And in September of 2019, she finally responded and took me up on the offer. After rock climbing, we decided to grab a drink at Four Peaks Brewery and talk. I reeled her in by bringing up a recent Hidden Brain podcast about quality of life and dying with dignity. One of the first things we discovered we had in common was our shared belief that if either of us were on life support, we’d want the plug pulled. This isn’t a typical love story—it’s an odd one. Two equally weird people finally meeting and bonding... right before the pandemic...and the world hasn’t been the same since. Oh, and did I mention our first date was on a Friday the 13th?
