The First Day

04.10.2015

We met the spring semester of our freshman year at Tech. Depending on which one of us you ask, the way we met is either a total coincidence or a carefully orchestrated scheme between sneaky friends. We had many mutual friends, but had never met in person; however, we both had most definitely noticed each other on social media. If you ask Angela, Brooke's mom, she remembers the bride-to-be coming to her with a picture of Michael and talking about how cute he was. After sufficient spying had been completed, we had a (sort of) blind date at Cream City, and we were so busy chatting about everything from rollercoasters (and how lame it is that Michael hates them) to ice cream flavors (and how lame it is that Brooke hates ANYTHING coconut) that we didn't realize the staff was cleaning up for closing time. After that night, we were pretty much inseparable, regardless of what we were doing...mainly shutting down the library studying. In between all the homework and finals, we found time to have experiences that only made us closer like driving to a dive bar for a concert in Charolette to Brooke becoming the sweetheart to Michael's fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta. We both graduated with our Bachelor's degree in May 2018, and Michael continued on to get his Master's in Business Administration in December 2019. We both have jobs we love, and are looking forward to all the exciting things the future has in store for us. Even though we have had so many amazing adventures, we know this one will be the best one yet!

The Best Day

01.04.2020

It was a freezing Saturday in Nashville, and we were getting ready for a date that had been a week and a half (but more like months for Michael) in the making. Michael was on shutdown from work while Brooke had never been busier at work, so this date was going to be sweet relief. We had been dating for so long that we had already been getting the "when are you getting engaged" question for years so every date at this point could be "the moment." Michael had already said that we were going to eat at a nice restaurant in Nashville, but on Friday night, he mentioned a show after dinner. Being the kind of person she is, Brooke IMMEDIATELY knew the ONLY show happening in Nashville on Saturday night was Hamilton. (We know what you're thinking... HAHA right? Yeah, it's funny looking back now but Michael can be a wildcard when it comes to surprises). So naturally, on Saturday morning, Brooke and her mom went out to buy a new dress for the "show" that Michael had hinted at and encouraged her imagination (pretty conniving... he admits now that he knew thats what she was thinking and looked up the start time to ag her on). After arriving to Nashville early for their dinner, Michael suggests that they just roam around Centennial Park to kill time. *Dont forget it was around 40 degrees outside... this is an important detail!* Once we park, Michael refused to let Brooke take her jacket with her... pretty suspicious right? Nope, Brooke didn't think a thing of it... even though Michael was allowed to wear his coat? Long story short, we made it up to the Parthenon (after much complaining about the cold from Brooke) and Michael asked Brooke the question she had waited her entire life for. So there's a lesson here folks: when your boyfriend of almost 5 years tells you to not take your jacket with you on a blistering cold day, smile because he knows you well enough that you'd be sad you ruined your professional engagement pictures with a winter coat.
