We both went to college at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach. Junior year, we met at a country bar called Renegades through mutual friends. Mark went in for a hug and I went for a handshake. Then we backed up and I went for a hug and he went for a handshake. Luckily, we got through the awkwardness and started dating soon after. On our first date, without even knowing, he brought my favorite ice cream so I knew he was special. Almost six years later we are getting married!
Last summer, Mark and I planned a trip to Scotland. We were staying in an old castle with many stairs and no elevator. One day we decided to get up early to see a steam train go by. So we got up and went to go have breakfast on the second floor. In the middle of breakfast, Mark said he needed to use the bathroom. He came back sweating and out of breath after about fifteen minutes. What I did not realize was he ran up to the top floor and packed all our suitcases and put them in the car. He made two trips so I could change my outfit after the proposal. Then, we got in the car and I fell asleep on the way there. When Mark woke me up we were in the middle of nowhere parked on the bottom of a hill. Mark said he wanted to hike up to get some good pictures. I was upset because it was so cold and he told me to wear my nice clothes since we wouldn't be hiking and we would be going out to dinner. The whole way up I complained that he was making me hike in my favorite boots. At one point during my temper tantrum I refused to climb anymore. Luckily, there was a couple at the top of the hill with a cute puppy. Mark got me to keep climbing so I could pet the puppy. After petting the puppy and making small talk with the couple we walked over to the edge of the hill overlooking a valley. Then Mark proposed and obviously I said yes! The couple ended up being photographers and captured beautiful pictures of the special moment. It was the best day of my life! Mark had hired the photographers six months before he proposed and booked the castle for us to stay in. He planned everything so well.
