Deep in South Philly, the Bok Building was formerly one of the City's oldest grade schools but has since been converted into a community hub with all sorts of fun spots. Start with a pastry at Machine Shop before taking a quick spin through All Caps Studio to see what Pop-Up they've got cooking this week. Looking for a dinner out Thursday or Saturday? Would be hard to do better than Irwin's Upstairs. Northern Italian with access to the Bok Building rooftop for Philadelphia's best skyline view.
You've never been to a "food hall" like this. Considered an indoor farmer's market, Reading Terminal has been going since 1893 with no plans of stopping. The amount of cuisines covered by the market's stalls knows no bounds. Pro-Tip: The Original Turkey is the most slept on stall in the market. Building a menu around perfectly roasted turkeys is genius - get the club on rye, you won't regret it.
Grab the cheese and prosciutto from DiBruno, a freaky orange wine from the bottle shop next door, maybe a couple meatballs from Tolluto if you're feeling crazy and set up a nice little picnic up the street in Palumbo Park.
Our first Philly date night - we liked it so much we moved quite literally around the corner. Saddle up to what is truly a fantastic bar and dial up the infamous broccoli caesar, some elite onion rings, and the patty melt. The mustard they serve with that thing will blow your mind!
Probably our favorite local for a coffee or a little midday pick-me-up but get this: In late Spring/Early Summer they start slinging the best soft-serve in the city. Need to hear more? Next door is their Porchetteria which is exactly what it signs like: A porchetta store. Soft serve x Porchetta? A uniquely Philly experience.
