Travel

The Wedding Website of Cameron Hunt and Brooke Atterberry
We're so excited to celebrate in one of our favorite places and we hope you're able to join us! There are two main airport options, Durango and Montrose. Both are roughly an hour drive to Silverton. We recommend renting a car at whichever airport you choose. The drives from both airports are very scenic mountain roads, but please be prepared for some steep drop offs and tight curves as they wind up the mountain towards Silverton. Please note that Ubers are not a reliable form of transportation in Silverton.

Flight

Durango La-Plata County Airport (DRO)

The drive from Durango to Silverton is technically the "easier" of the two, while still being very scenic. There are still some steep drop offs, but guard rails are more readily available. If you have an intense fear of heights, please consider allowing another member of your group to drive you. There is also the option of riding the historical Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train from Durango to Silverton. This is also a very scenic option that avoids some of the heights compared to the highway. Please be aware that there are only 2 trains per day so the times must align with your other travel plans.

Flight

Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ)

The drive from Montrose to Silverton takes you along the famous "Million Dollar Highway." This is known as one of the most scenic drives in the entire country and is absolutely beautiful! It does, however, include sections of narrow shoulders with steep drop-offs and no guard rails as well as sections of tight hairpin turns. We don't recommend that guests with fear of heights attempt to drive this road before first seeing it as a passenger. If you're not afraid of heights and are up for an adventure, this is a great option for you! Here's a link to a video of the mountainous section of the drive, if you would like to know what you're in for before you make your decision. https://youtu.be/PZpmdSbI1XA?si=3ZjADFFoMx03qvKS

Train

Durango & Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad

This is an option for transportation between Durango and Silverton for those who want to avoid getting a rental car or are severely afraid of heights. This is also a great way to spend a day if you choose to extend your trip and make a vacation out of it! There are only two trains that leave from Durango each day, both in the morning. For this option to work, you would likely need to fly in to Durango the day before and spend the night in a hotel near Downtown Durango. The train would arrive in Silverton early enough to make it to our wedding, but you would need to stay in Silverton the night of our wedding and then take the train back to Durango after lunch the next day. The train stations are located conveniently in downtown Durango and Silverton and are both within walking distance to many dining and hotel options. The Durango station is 14 miles from the Durango airport, but Ubers and taxis are readily available. Please note, once you get to Silverton, Uber will not be a reliable form of transportation. Please let us know if you are considering this option so that we are able to make sure there is transportation available to take you from downtown Silverton to our wedding venue.
