We absolutely adore this quaint downtown! Los Olivos is jam packed with wine tasting rooms from local vineyards, delicious restaurants/cafes, and shopping! A must see. While you're here - don't miss a tasting at Carhartt winery, Dragonette Cellars, Sarloos and Sons, Stolpman (try the I Love You Bunches wine) Our favorite places to eat in town are Sides Hardware and Shoes (the best burger), The Wine Merchant, and of the SY Valley staple Panino (Jordan loves the curry chicken salad salad).
Cool down with a pint at nearby Figueroa Mountain Brewery! As Brook's one time workstead, many a beer has been enjoyed by the happy couple here and tons of great memories made. Try the Hoppy Poppy IPA - a classic. Don't forget to ask for some pretzel sticks to much on!
Straight out of a storybook - the town of Solvang is a historic Danish village that definitely looks the part! Do yourself a favor and try the Danish pancakes at Paula's Pancake House. Grab a cocktail at Mad & Vin in the Landsby, and something to eat at Succulent Cafe while soaking in the super unique (and a little quirky) Solvang vibe!
Fabulous wine in a gorgeous setting. A definite favorite vineyard of ours! The sprawling lawns and stone structures are beautiful, spacious, and the wine doesn't hurt. Lots of shady areas to post up with a bottle of Sav Blanc, unwind, and take in the scenery of vineyard covered hills that we fell in love with in the SY Valley!
If you're driving up the San Marcos Pass (154) stop by the Cold Spring Tavern and enjoy a hearty meal at this famous stagecoach stop. Here you can appreciate the true ambiance of the Old West because, as if by magic, time stands still. Lunch isn't complete without a stiff whiskey drink in the bar and a fresh Tri Tip sandwich BBQd outside. With live music most weekend days, this place is a must see on your way in or out of the valley. :)
Ostriches... that's right! I'm going to preface this by saying we have never actually been here... but it is a Santa Ynez Valley staple - and so close to our hotel! This is a 33-acre breeding farm with more than 100 birds including emus on property. Stop by to feed and pet some Ostriches, pick up some ostrich meat(??), eggs(??), souvenirs... or just get get a pic for Instagram -- #doitfortheGraham is the theme of the weekend after all. :)
