You might know Robert or Karen individually, but not as a couple. Take a look around this website to get to know them a little better and answer some questions you may have about the wedding.
Karen was hired to work at Robert's job. When orientation was over, the Office Manager sat Karen next to Robert so that Karen could benefit from the knowledge and advice of a more experienced employee. While sitting together, they talked about work, life, friends and family - and realized they had a similar sense of humor and nearly identical values. Robert, wowed by Karen's combination of intellect and beauty - asked her out and Karen - impressed with Robert's smooth, charismatic charm - accepted. One date turned into two, two dates turned into three and before they knew it - they realized they wanted to be with each other exclusively. And here we are.
They say opposites attract. Maybe it's their zodiac signs - Robert is a Gemini, and his Air sign fans the flames of Karen's Fire sign - Leo. Maybe it's where they're from - Robert is from laid-back Southern California and Karen is from the hectic Boogie-down Bronx. Maybe it's their experiences - Robert became grounded and centered by his children while Karen was more of a free-spirit. Whatever it may be - Robert and Karen are yin and yang. Their personalities provide the perfect balance. Where Karen is a talkative, social butterfly, Robert is quiet and a bit more reserved. Where Robert is more pensive and calculating Karen is more impulsive and spontaneous. Karen provides the heat to counter Robert's cool demeanor and Robert provides the calm to Karen's spicy disposition. That balance of opposites is augmented by what they have in common - a love of God, family, friends, laughter, music - and of course, each other. Welcome to the celebration of Karen and Robert's love and their desire to become one. You are here because they love you and want you to share in the most important day of their lives.
Karen's birthday is August 4th (like Barack Obama). In 2018 it started early. Wednesday, August 1st - Karen got three bouquets of flowers delivered to her at work. Nonplussed, she opened the cards. They read: #1 Because I love you. #2 Because you are my best friend. #3 Because you make me happy. Thursday, August 2nd - Karen left the house and opened her car door, where a cellphone mount was installed on her windshield. The note attached read: #4 Because I care. That night, when Karen came home, Robert told her to go upstairs, where Karen found a big screen television for the bedroom. The note read: #5 Because I understand the struggle (private joke). Friday, August 3rd - Karen went to work and told her co-workers about the gifts/notes. There were squeals of excitement and different guesses about how many gifts there would be and what the next one could be. But they all agreed on one thing - the last gift would be a ring. All except Karen. "He would never propose on my birthday!" She said. That night, Robert took Karen to dinner and gave her the most adorable plush puppy. The note read: #6 Because you're my dog. Saturday, August 4th - Karen's birthday. Robert and Karen slept in and there was no mention of birthdays, gifts, numbers, or reasons why. Karen felt vindicated! Later that evening Robert took Karen to dinner at Bahama Breeze - the restaurant they went to on their 1st date and then to the IMAX movie theater they went to on their 2nd date. They laughed and reminisced, and as they walked back to the car, Robert said, "You never asked me what #7 was. You know 7 is my number." Karen said, "You've been giving me gifts all week, I thought it would be rude to say, 'Hey! Where is number 7?" They laughed and Robert told her that he loved her and appreciated her and that he wanted to build a future with her and then presented her with the ring and asked, Will you marry me? And you might ask... but wait! Why #7? Robert said, "#7 Because I need you."
