Things To Do

The Hudson Valley is filled with outdoor activities, shopping and delicious food and drinks. Here are some of our favorites!

Fishkill Ridge Trail

NY

Hikes available for all levels here, and the views are amazing! Maps are available at the trailhead, or at this link.

Breakneck Ridge Trail

Breakneck Ridge Trail, NY

Cold Spring is located 10 to 15 minutes south of Beacon and offers a host of hiking trails, including the Breakneck Ridge Loop. Don't let the name intimidate you! It is a medium hike with spectacular views of the Hudson.

Bannerman Castle

Beacon, NY 12508

Feeling adventurous? Plan a visit to Bannerman Island and take the ferry over for a guided walking tour of this historic castle and its grounds. Tickets are available online for the ferry ride and tour.

Fishkill Farms

9 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533

Kick off fall with apple picking at Fishkill Farms! Reservations for pick-your-own should be made in advance, but we highly recommend a visit just for treats at the farm stand, drinks at the cider bar, and live music.

Denning's Point Distillery

10 North Chestnut Street, Beacon, NY 12508

A small but mighty distillery featuring creative cocktails and bourbons made from New York State grains. A bottle is the perfect souvenir to remember your upstate weekend!

Beacon Bread Company

193-195 Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508

Great place to stop for coffee and a pastry right in downtown Beacon, or to sit down for brunch or lunch. It's always bustling with regulars, and they have an amazing latte!

Beacon Falls Cafe

472 Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508

Homestyle diner food right in the heart of Beacon - mimosa flights optional but highly encouraged! Put your name down and check out the great thrift stores next door while you wait for your table.

Happy Valley Arcade Bar

296 Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508

Feeling the itch for classic arcade games, craft beer, and bar food all in one place? Happy Valley is just that! Enjoy pinball, Pac-Man, and more at this cozy spot in downtown Beacon.

Hudson Valley Brewery

7 East Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508

Hudson Valley Brewery has excellent craft beers and an atmosphere that can't be beat. Built in an old mill house, this is a must-stop spot for sours (Meghan's favorite) and everything in between. Not to mention, it's a 5-minute walk from St. Joachim if you're looking for a way to pass the time between our ceremony and reception!

La Sorella

992 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524

La Sorella is where our welcome drinks are on Friday night but by day, this spot is a must-visit for coffee, baked goods, and brunch & lunch food whenever you have the chance. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu and the atmosphere is the best!

Sotano

1036 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524

Look no further than Sotano for delicious Mediterranean food in a cozy historic home right on Fishkill's Main Street. They also have patio seating and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but we're especially partial to their amazing seafood.

The White House Bar

1107 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524

This list wouldn't be complete without a dive bar, and White House is just that! Cash-only with a pool table, Touch Tunes, and if you're lucky, the bartender's friendly dog.

Bert's Hideout

19A Robinson Street, Fishkill, NY 12524

If you love Italian cookies, Bert's is the place for you! Their pastry cases are filled with treats and they also serve light breakfast and lunch fare in a cozy setting right off the main street in Fishkill.

Joe's Dairy Bar and Grill

550 New York 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533

Keep summer going at this roadside stand with great ice cream, milkshakes, and burgers. Worth the short drive from Fishkill!

Where to Shop

Beacon is filled with thrift stores and boutiques of all kinds and we want to share some of our favorites with you! If you're in the mood to scour the racks and thrift for treasures, we love Blackbird Attic for women's fashion and Another Door for guys and girls - Meghan still thinks about the vintage Georgetown Hoyas baseball cap she saw here and left behind. For one of a kind trinkets and home pieces, check out Dickinsons Antiques right down the street. If a souvenir to remember the weekend is more your speed, Mike can't leave Beacon without a visit to Last Outpost Store for Hudson Valley shirts, camp mugs, and hats. Take a piece of Beacon home with you!
