US dollars, Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in most of the resorts and restaurants. However, American Express is accepted in only a few businesses and some resorts will not accept cash payment in US dollars. American checks are not accepted in Los Cabos and most of the ATMs will only provide pesos. Please note that Costco will only take cash payment up to $250 usd but accepts credit cards. Make sure to contact your bank before you visit Mexico to inform them of your trip so they do not block your credit cards.
We recommend you bring some cash in US dollars for tips if necessary.
Ubers are widely available in Los Cabos but have no access to pick you up from the airport so prior arrangements for pick-up are recommended. Ubers are also very affordable compared to typical US prices. Taxis are available at the airport but they do not accept credit card payments, cash only.
In April, temperatures in Los Cabos are usually between 75F and 80F and sunny. The humidity is usually between 50% and 55%.
The Los Cabos area is fortunate to have 21 miles of sandy shoreline. The majority of beaches in Los Cabos are not safe for swimming due to strong undercurrents and riptides. The swimmable public beaches are Medano Beach, Santa Maria Bay, Chileno Bay, Palmilla Beach, and Costa Azul beach, all located on the Sea of Cortez. No swimming is allowed on the Pacific Coast.
The main airport serving Los Cabos is the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) which is 18 miles away from the Cabo Azul Resort, a 35-minute scenic drive from the airport.
All US travelers must have a valid US passport for return travel to the US with a minimum of 6-month validity. Please be aware of COVID protocols that may apply during the time of your travel.
Los Cabos is on Mountain Standard Time (1 hour ahead of Pacific Standard Time, 2 hours behind Eastern Standard Time).
