Screw It--Why Not?

It all started with a phone call, a good feeling, and a grocery bag full of gin.

Brittney and Holly met the way many modern love stories start — on Hinge. That’s it. That’s the story. Kidding... Holly had just moved to Nashville, trying to find her way — balancing her bartending career and carving out a name for herself in a tight-knit, well-established scene. She was renting a room from her longtime friend Owen (who, fittingly, is now our officiant), and had the good fortune of friends like Owen and Melissa helping her feel at home. A few months in, feeling whole, happy, and ready to open her heart again, Holly decided to dip a toe into the wild world of online dating. Meanwhile, Brittney was living just across the Tennessee-Kentucky border in Oak Grove, with her daughter Ashlynn and her dog, Breakfast. She, too, was ready to meet someone. Neither of us were looking for something too serious too fast, but if love was going to happen, it had to be with the right person. After a short DM chat (and one very long message from Holly, telling her life story, as Brittney loves to tease), and an hour-long phone call — Brittney sitting in her car after the gym, Holly wandering a mall buying new shoes the day before a bar opening — something clicked. We both describe that call like we’d known each other forever. Brittney invited Holly to come hang out with friends that night. Holly hesitated at first, but the second they hung up, she had a gut feeling. She texted Brittney back: "Screw it — why not?" That night, first impressions were instant. Brittney says the first thing she fell in love with was watching Holly clumsily fumble out of her car, carrying a grocery bag full of gin, bartending tools, and mixers. She also noticed Holly's beautiful voluptuous hair. Holly first noticed Brittney’s joyful, infectious smile, her playful energy — and also her beautiful voluptuous hair. From there, we were inseparable — making the 45-minute drive to see each other almost daily. A few months in, Holly had to leave for a work opportunity in New York. For four months, we made it work — video calls, surprise trips, and quick weekends together. Brittney and Ashlynn even flew up to visit several times. Holly surprised Brittney on Mother’s Day. And when Brittney and Holly took a trip home to California... Brittney popped the question at Holly's favorite hiking spot in Fullerton, CA. Ask us about the full story (haha). The rest is history — and just getting started.
