It was summers filled with chlorine, ice cream, and plenty of humidity. Brittany at 13 and Lance at 16, their weird-age-gap-crush enhanced by a mutual love of Harry Potter and reading. After a few years of flirting and joking, and one trip to Wisconsin where they held hands for a moment (and went down water slides) the two reunited in 2015 with the help of Lance's mom, Tina, and Brittany's aunt, Andrea. Lance added Brittany on Facebook, she sent the first message, and after one coffee date, they knew it was absolutely meant to be.
L and B planned a trip to Charleston, South Carolina (one of B's favorite places) to celebrate her birthday. Little did B know... Lance carried the gorgeous engagement ring the two designed together for the duration of the trip, waiting for the perfect moment to get down on one knee. After visiting several gorgeous, historical places, and one restaurant that used to be a church (with an awesome ghost cat) the two decided to go for an evening walk in the park. In the middle of Battery Park, amongst the sound of the ocean and Gatsby-like parties held in the numerous nearby Southern mansions, Lance got down on one knee and asked Brittany, "What are you doing for the next 100 years or so?" and she said, in her usual sassy way, "I don't know, you tell me!" and he replied, "Want to spend them with me?" and got a very excited "Of course!" in response.
While the pandemic certainly delayed our larger celebration, we decided to have a smaller wedding on our original date in August of 2020! It was an intimate affair with just immediate friends, family, and our wedding parties. We’re really looking forward to celebrating with you all— the way we originally intended— this summer!
