Villages to Visit or Stay in Santorini:
Oia Very popular and especially crowded at sunset. Known for iconic blue domes, boutique shopping, Ammoudi Bay swimming, and photo ops. Go early (around 7 a.m.) to beat the crowds. Great option if you want postcard views and luxury stays. Travel time to venue: 30 mins. Fira (Thira) Busy during cruise ship hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m.), but a central spot with nightlife, shopping, and caldera views. Great for those who want energy and accessibility. May be noisy at night. Travel time to venue: 15 mins. Pyrgos Low crowds, peaceful vibe, and authentic village feel. Explore the Castelli ruins, churches, and charming streets. Visit in the late afternoon for fewer tourists and golden hour views. Travel time to venue: 10 mins. Megalochori Quiet, traditional, and relaxing. Great for slow strolls, wine tasting, and village charm. Beautiful in early evenings and a short drive to the wedding venue. Travel time to venue: 5 mins. Akrotiri Close to the venue with moderate crowds. Known for ancient ruins and Red Beach. Best visited in the morning before it gets hot. Great if you prefer a quieter stay with cultural sites nearby. Travel time to venue: 5 mins. Kamari or Perissa More relaxed beach towns with black sand beaches. Family-friendly with beach bars and sunbeds. Flight Options
First, check your passport—if it needs renewal, allow at least four months for processing. Travel insurance is also recommended; Allianz is a reliable option (www.allianztravelinsurance.com). No visa required. There are no direct flights from DFW to Greece, but there are many flexible options to reach Santorini (JTR). You can take advantage of this by adding a stopover in a major European city—it’s a great way to explore somewhere new either on your way there or back. Direct flights from DFW to Europe (approx. 9 hours): • Dublin: Cool (55–68°F), overcast, extended daylight • Paris: Ideal weather (65–80°F), sunny and vibrant • London: Mild with light rain (58–73°F) • Amsterdam: Warm and pleasant (60–75°F), mix of sun and clouds • Madrid: Hot and dry (70–95°F) From these cities to Santorini: Direct flights are typically 3–4 hours and cost around $200–$400 round trip. Budget airlines like Ryanair, EasyJet, and Volotea offer great deals, while Aegean Airlines provides the smoothest experience. Booking 3–4 months ahead gives you the best rates. Another route option: Fly from DFW to JFK (3.5 hrs), then from JFK to Athens (9.5 hrs), and finally Athens to Santorini (45 mins by plane). Ferries are also available from Athens to Santorini if you want a scenic experience.

Transportation
We will book transportation for the wedding day for everyone with multiple pick ups across the island as needed. There is also parking at the wedding venue. - Uber: o Local taxis are booked through Uber app o Widely available in Fira, Oia, Perissa and Kamari – You may have to wait 20-40 Minutes during peak hours. o Cost will be around $30 each ride. - Rental Cars: o Best to use if you are visiting/staying in Akrotiri, Megalochori, and Pyrgos o Cost is $60-$90/day in July with Insurance o Parking is free and available in most areas, but scarce in Oia & Fira o Roads are tight and winding. - Public Bus: o The central station for all Santorini Local Buses is in Fira. o You can get from any part to any other part of the island using the Santorini local buses but most of the time you have to go through Fira and change line there. o All the buses depart and finish their routes there. o See schedule & map: santorinibus.com
