Just 10 minutes down HWY 9! Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is a state park of California preserving mainly forest and riparian areas in the watershed of the San Lorenzo River, including a grove of old-growth coast redwood.
Established in 1902, Big Basin Redwoods is California’s oldest state park. In the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains, its biggest attractions—literally—are its ancient coast redwoods. Some of these giants are more than 50 feet around and as tall as the Statue of Liberty! The park also offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, lush waterfalls, and over 80 miles of trails.
The family-operated Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has been entertaining guests by the beach since 1907. One of the last great seaside amusement parks remaining in the United States and home to two National Historic Landmarks – the 1911 Looff Carousel and 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster.
