Neither can pinpoint an exact date of when we met, however, the first time we saw each other was memorable for both of us. Hunter saw Brittany at the pool at Campus Crossings, an off-campus apartment where they both lived. Brittany saw Hunter at the Elliott University Center at UNCG. Neither introduced themselves at the time and later met through mutual friends. Despite both having initial attraction, we didn't begin dating until the Spring of 2019. We stayed very close friends throughout the years. It was not uncommon for us to spend an hour or so on the phone at least once a month to catch up. During one of the phone calls in December of 2018, Hunter asked Brittany if she was seeing anyone and expressed interest in going on a date. Brittany was not seeing anyone at the time, however, felt uneasy about going on a date with someone she considered a close friend. About 3 months later, they finally went on their first date to Wooden Robot, a popular brewery in Charlotte and the rest is history....
Trying to navigate the difficult year of Covid, Hunter's family planned a week-long trip to Lake Lure over the Christmas holiday. Hunter decided this would be a perfect backdrop for a proposal and decided to invite Brittany's parents to join. He bought a ring and on the day of the proposal, he set little LED lights that lead from the mountain house to a gazebo next to a waterfall (about a .5 mile walk) where he popped the question!
