Brittany & Hung

FAQs

Some people have questions. We get it. We knew from the start that we didn't want a traditional wedding. A ceremony was the first thing off the list. We were originally planning for our own mini, casual-attire, night market-style celebration in Los Angeles featuring food from destinations we'd explored around the globe. But, planning during the pandemic became tricky. Food vendors were unable to commit that they'd even be in business by the time our date arrived. As foodies, there was no way we would opt for a general catering company that 'does it all'. If we spent money, we wanted to support small businesses that come from the communities their businesses represented. Additionally, somewhat spontaneously we decided to buy a home. (Seriously, the process of considering to buy a home until being under contract was only 6 days). Diverting any and all 'wedding funds' we had to this new chapter for our future.
Question

Will you have a reception?

Answer

No, we don't plan on having a reception. Read above for the full story, but we used all 'wedding funds' on the down payment for our home in Seattle instead and kept our celebration super small by having a fancy dinner with our immediate family members. In fact we didn't have a bridal shower or many of the "traditional" wedding expectations.

Question

finally! why did it take so long for you two to get married?

Answer

To be honest, we already felt committed to each other (10 years together does that to you). Getting married felt more like doing it for the legal reasons. Our mindset has always been 'why rush if we already plan on forever?'

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Yes, there's a registry tab above, but you can also go directly to Crate & Barrel, CB2, or West Elm to find them. Although we don't expect gifts at all, it's been so appreciated all of the love that friends and family have already sent our way. Filling our new home has been an ultimate joy. We also know that in many Asian cultures cash is gifted and we've already had some family & friends that have preferred to Venmo cash & that works too! (venmo: @brittanydanyelle)

Question

Did you change your name? How should we address you?

Answer

No. Brittany made the decision many years ago (before meeting Hung) that she wouldn’t change her name. Professionally, many know her as Brittany Danyelle but her full legal name will remain Brittany Danyelle Ryerson. We can be addressed as Ms. Brittany Danyelle & Mr. Hung Nguyen.
