Both Brent and Brittany had profiles on the online dating app Tinder. Low and behold the two matched and chatted briefly before Brittany suggested they meet up at Starbucks. When the day to meet came, Brittany almost backed out and wasn’t sure if she felt like going, but ultimately decided to go. At Starbucks, Brent walked in to Brittany sitting at a table with a book. The two sat down and chatted for a while before deciding to continue the night by looking at Christmas lights in Brent’s Honda S2000 with the top down in the freezing cold. At the end of the Christmas light display Brent forgot to put the top back so the few miles on the highway before turning in a parking lot were extremely cold. Brittany thought this was awesome because she had never ridden in a convertible before. While in the parking lot, Brent made the first move and kissed Brittany. Not wanting the night to end just yet, the two went to Taco Bell before saying good bye to each other.

The third date, Brittany asked Brent if he wanted to come out to her farm in Nashville, IL and see all of her pets and farm animals. Brittany decided to saddle up her horse and show Brent that she knew how to ride. However, Brittany’s horse hadn’t been ridden in several months and displayed a bit of an attitude. During the ride, Brent was taking pictures of Brittany’s other horse, when her horse ran into a tree and tumbled on top of her. He quickly rushed over to make sure she was fine. Brittany had hurt her arm, and ultimately needed some help getting the saddle off and feeding the horses. Upon opening the barn door, both of Brittany’s dogs rushed into the barn to terrorize a possum. At this moment Brittany looked at Brent and said “I know this may sound bad but can you stay here real quick while I go grab a gun and make sure the dogs don’t attack it anymore” and Brent agreed. When Brittany returned with her gun, she realized her arm was too hurt to lift the barrel of the gun and Brent offered to shoot it. Brittany asked “have you ever killed anything before?” Brent proceeded to shoot the possum at a very close range. There was no blood and even at 6” away, Brittany was pretty sure Brent had missed. After this whole ordeal they went inside and Brent made dinner. During this time Brittany proceeded to tell Brent that if he didn’t want to ever talk to her again, that she would completely understand and be ok with it. Even through it all he decided to stay and went with her to urgent care the next morning.

Brent and Brittany had traveled all the way to Colorado together to go hiking. The two had brought up the idea of marriage before and spending forever together, but Brittany had mentioned that she wanted to two to be together for at least a year before they started an engagement. On the second day of the trip Brittany was getting pretty annoyed that the day was cloudy, and Brent kept following her around with his “stupid” camera. That night they went to a restaurant where Brent was upset that the day wasn’t quite as happy as he hoped for. This was originally the day he wanted to propose. The following day the two chose that regardless of the weather they were going to hike the lake trail and all the way to sky pond. Along the hike the weather turned from rain to sleet and Brittany decided that maybe she didn’t want to do the entire hike and the next lake (Emerald Lake) would be as far as they went. This gave Brent about 15 minutes to think about what he was going to say if he was going to propose at Emerald Lake. Once getting to emerald lake, the sleet turned into snow and Brent insisted on setting up he’s camera to take another self timing couples picture. Brittany took in the views while he set his camera up. It wasn’t until Brent joined her for the picture, that Brittany pointed out the camera wasn’t flashing correctly. He informed her that it was because the camera was recording instead. Brittany was confused and asked why but Brent started talking about how much he loved her. At this moment Brittany finally realized what was about to happen. Brent got down on one knee and asked Brittany to marry him.
