Getting here: most GPS don't recognize the ranch's remote location. Print out directions so you have them when you lose cell service. It's the end of summer, so the road has some sections of washboard/pot holes. Drive slow and enjoy the views!

Lower Slide Lake

Lower Slide Lake

WY

30 mins from Red Rock Ranch / 6.4 miles. The Slide Lake beach is a small, beautiful lake access point on the western shore, ideal for kayaks, canoes, paddleboards. It is located down the Taylor Ranch Road, a right turn off the main Gros Ventre Road when heading up from Kelly. There are no facilities located on site. Parking is limited/ tight. The Atherton Creek Boating Site is the main boating access for Slide Lake, and on the eastern shore. It is located at the end of the paved portion of the Gros Ventre Road. There is a boat ramp, small dock extending into the lake, and it's a beautiful place for fishing, swimming, or hanging out with family and friends. Bathrooms and potable water are available nearby in the campground. The parking area is very large and can accommodate trailers. Sometimes, it can be very windy on the Atherton side of slide lake, so we recommend the western beach for hanging out!

Kelly Cliffs, Gros Ventre River

Kelly Cliffs, Gros Ventre River

Kelly Cliffs is a popular swimming hole on the Gros Ventre River. Water levels can be low during September, so be sure to double check depths before jumping. On the Gros Ventre Road, take the first pullout on the right past Kelly Warm Springs. Park and walk west 150m to the cliffs.

Mountain Bike at Shadow Mountain

Mountain Bike at Shadow Mountain

Shadow Mountain takes about 45 minutes to drive to from the ranch. It's a 7.2-mile out-and-back (or shuttle) trail near Kelly, Wyoming with incredible views of the Tetons. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for mountain biking, and may be dusty this time of year. Dogs are allowed.
