Where to stay and how to get there.

Travel Note

Day Before Logistics

If you're travelling in from abroad the day before the wedding (Wednesday) and wondering where to stay that night, we recommend you stay either at Mount Druid or alternatively in Dublin, Galway or Shannon. Dublin, Galway, and Shannon are about a ~1 to 2-hour drive to Mount Druid. You can stay at Mount Druid on Wednesday, September 21st, the day before the wedding. You can check-in from 3pm. You're more than welcome to come early and explore the grounds of Mount Druid before the festivities begin on Thursday! Please see below for more on Mount Druid accommodation and local area stay options.

Flight

Airport Options

There are 2 major airports to fly into/out of Ireland, they are Shannon Airport and Dublin Airport. Dublin Airport is the closest airport to the venue to fly into and is about 1hr and 10mins or 97km/60miles drive to Mount Druid. Dublin Airport is the most convenient and most connected overall. We also recommend it if you intend to take public transport to the venue but it also has many rental car options. Alternatively, you can fly into the West of Ireland to the smaller Shannon Airport if you're spending some time travelling around that side of the country before or after the wedding. Shannon Airport is 1 hour and 47mins drive to/from Mount Druid. We recommend you only fly in here if you intend on renting a car as there are limited public transport options from this much smaller airport. Shannon Airport is about 1hour drive from Galway or 2hr38mins to Dublin. If you intend on getting public transport (bus or train) to the venue, we strongly recommend you to fly to Dublin which better services Mount Druid and the surrounding area. If you plan on renting a car and driving then either airport is fine as you have car rental options at both.

Travel Note

Car Rental

If you plan on travelling around Ireland to see some of the countryside and sites, it is highly recommended that you rent a car. If you're landing into Shannon or Dublin Airport, you will have ample options for car rental although there are more rental agencies operating out of Dublin. It is definitely recommended that you book this ahead of time as although it's not peak season it can be a busy time of the year. For our American visitors - don't forget we drive on the left-hand side of the road! Make sure you shop around on aggregation services like Kayak.com etc. Dublin car rental options: Budget, Enterprise, Avis, Thrifty, Dooley, Europcar, Hertz, National, Alamo, Sixt Shannon car rental options: Budget, Enterpriese, Alamo, Fox
