Two non-native gig-goers poured out of Terminal 5 in New York on a chilly October night in 2014, their paths crossing on the corner of 56th and 10th by a hot dog cart waiting to cross the lights. Their groups got chatting and before you know it, they all ended up in a nearby Irish bar until the early hours of the morning (it was a weekday night!). But the story of us didn't happen straight away. While we did meet that night, any plans to meet after that were thwarted by the Universe seemingly conspiring against us but eventually, persistence paid off. After two months and four failed date meet-up attempts later, we finally met again in January 2015. As fate would have it, our first date would be at Terminal 5 again, but this time to see a gig together (Future Islands). Ironically, their hit song called 'Seasons (Waiting On You)', was strangely foreshadowing what was to come. You see, Brendan had already quit his job and committed to a motorcycle adventure travelling from NYC to Patagonia. After a few months of dating, we said our farewells in front of the Flatiron building in New York. Brendan rode south toward the thrilling unknown and Brittany moved east toward the colorful & eclectic - Brooklyn. A little over a year later, we had built a strong friendship over many Whatsapp and Facebook messages and the odd shared Spotify song. Not long after Brendan returned to Ireland, scruffier and unemployed, Brittany came to visit after some of her own solo travelling through Scotland. All it took was a whirlwind week-long road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way to pick things up right where we left off. After a year of dating long distance from Dublin and New York, we decided to go for it. We both quit our jobs and headed off across the world to Australia. Neither of us had ever been to Sydney but living together for the first time and having the ocean at our doorstep seemed enticing enough. One year into our Ozventures, Brendan popped the question on a cliff edge along one of our favorite hiking spots in the Blue Mountains, north of Sydney. In February 2019, we legally tied the knot with a small group of friends in Sydney and in March 2021, the love of our life, our little daughter Ella, was born - changing our lives forever. Now here we are, back in Texas with a full house and full hearts - we can't wait to celebrate our love in front of everyone we hold nearest and dearest.
Situated in the picturesque village of Castletown Geoghegan, County Westmeath, Mount Druid is a working Organic Sheep Farm set in a parkland of 100 acres. We looked at venues all over Texas and Ireland but when we first visited Mount Druid, we felt both comfortable and excited all at once. It's a magical place and we're looking forward to sharing it with you.
