Head to the beautiful capital building of Madison! There are some amazing restaurants and bars located right in the capitol square. If you’re from out of state, make sure you order a brandy old fashioned sweet or a Spotted Cow!
If you’re looking to get some fresh air, take the (very reasonable- no gear required) hike to picnic point. The end of the small peninsula offers a seating area that looks out over Lake Mendota. If you look closely, you can see the Terrace on the isthmus.
If you’re in town Friday night, going to a Wisconsin fish-fry is a must. The bride’s personal favorite is Mid Town Pub in Middleton, WI. (She recommends the lemon grilled cod and the clam chowder. If you’re extra hungry, order Chicken Bonerz as an app!) If you see the owner, Joel, tell him “Britley” sent you. Arriving late and hungry Friday night? This is the place for you! Open and serving the full menu until 1 AM.
A great way to spend a Saturday morning in Madison is to pay a visit to Madison’s farmers market. Peruse incredible locally grown produce, honey, flowers and more! You have to hunt down Stella’s Bakery kiosk for a loaf of warm cheese bread. Located on the capitol square and a few blocks from the lake, a trip to the farmers market is worth an early wake up. (6:00 am to 1:45pm- see website for more details)
Weary Traveler is home of the Groom’s favorite burger: the bad breath burger! This quirky bar and eatery is located on the equally eclectic Williamson St (colloquially “Willy Street”.). The Willy St neighborhood is home to many locally owned shops- a favorite of the bride is Madison Greenhouse store.
Vegan or vegetarian? This is the place for you!!! Meat eater? This is also the place for you! With unique cocktails and vegetarian/vegan forward menu, it’s hard to go wrong at Everly, no matter what your preferences. Henningfield/Totaro Family favorite: fried Brussels sprouts and truffle fries. Brides favorite cocktail: honey comb hideout
