Question

What is the weather like in San Juan, Nicaragua?

Answer

August has an avg low of 76F and a high of 83F. August is part of rainy season so there may be occasional overcast and patchy rain.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua is a tropical rainforest. Our wedding will take place during the rainy season, as such you should expect speretic showers during the day, with the bulk of the rain falling at night. The air is humid and it is recommended our guest arrive hydrated and are encouraged to remain hydrated during your visit. Below is an itemized list of items you will need: - Insect Repellent - Sunblock -Sturdy Hiking boots/ non slip shoes to minimize falls/ slipping due to rain -Raincoat -Deodorant - Sturdy Sandals. (Thong sandals are not recommended. Think Chaco style.) -Swimsuit (if you want to enjoy the several pools at the resort!)

Question

Is Nicaragua/ San Juan del Sur safe?

Answer

Nicaragua is a developing nation but despite that, it is still remarkably safe compared to other developing nations. Tourists should still use a healthy dose of common sense when traveling in the country. Petty theft and pickpocketing are commonplace. San Juan del Sur is a small beach town that is accustomed to tourists. It is safe and easily walkable but should exercise caution when out on foot at night.

Question

What is the local currency?

Answer

While the official local currency is Cordobas, the USD is readily accepted in most parts of Nicaragua at a fair rate. The airport is probably your best bet to get USD exchanged to Cordobas. We recommend bringing small dollar bills, nothing greater than $20 as they are accepted more regularly. Many establishments accept credit cards as well, but will sometimes charge an additional fee to do so.
