In the green expanse of the centuries-old olive trees of Fasano, stands Masseria Salamina, a farm perched between ancient stone walls and the blue of the Adriatic Sea. Masseria Salamina has been an agricultural centre and noble residence since the end of the 1600s. Once fortified to defend itself from the attacks of Saracen pirates, it has been under the care of the De Miccolis Angelini family since 1986. The main cultivation activity of the 60 hectares farm is the production of extra virgin olive oil from their 400+ year-old olive trees. The Masseria has an on-site restaurant with dishes made from produce grown on the grounds. They produce jams, marmalades, and ancient vegetable varieties saved from extinction, such as the mandarin ‘Profumato di Monopoli’ and the tomato ‘of the queen.' They grow their own wheat, roll their own pasta, grind their own flour, grow almonds, wine grapes, and many various fruits and citruses. aka GET READY TO EAT!
