We spent our childhoods growing up in Andover without ever officially meeting. Although we were once on the same childhood tee-ball team and even shared a bus to a soccer game at Gillette Stadium, our paths did not truly cross until May 2020. While Brigi was in Palmetto Bluff during COVID, James reached out through a Snapchat message and made up a story just to try talking to her. On Brigi’s drive back to Boston the next day, she spent 16 hours in the back seat texting reply after reply to this “James from Andover.” A few weeks later, we met for our first date on Little Neck in Ipswich, where Brigi has spent every summer. Our date included Pomo’s pizza and White Farms ice cream. As two incredibly messy eaters, we both barely ate to make sure we wouldn’t spill on day one! On June 1, 2020, James asked Brigitte to be his girlfriend on the Little Neck dock at sunset. Over the next five years, we shared endless adventures, from eating plenty of Thai and Indian food to attending countless Boston sporting events, and even studying abroad together in London. While in Europe, we visited 21 countries in a single year to celebrate our 21st birthdays, even running a marathon together in Porto, Portugal, along the way. On our five-year anniversary, while visiting Palmetto Bluff, James asked Brigitte to marry him! He even included a special surprise by dressing her childhood Care Bear, Carey, in a tiny proposal shirt. Since this is the place where James sent that first message and where she said “yes,” it is the only place we could imagine getting married. We cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with all of you at our special Southern escape!
