Aakash and I have decided to celebrate our marriage by honoring both our cultures! We will be having a Hindu wedding ceremony in the morning and a traditional American wedding ceremony in the afternoon. We are so excited to share this special day with you!
Merrimon-Wynne House - 500 North Blount Street, Raleigh, North Carolina All wedding day events will take place at the Merrimon-Wynne House.
We suggest arriving 30 minutes ahead of the start time for both ceremonies. Please note that Polk Street will be blocked off between N Blount Street to N Person Street for the baraat beginning at 9:30 am. The parking lot for the venue can be accessed via N Blount Street or E North Street.
We encourage our guests to participate in all cultural aspects of our wedding day! We suggest wearing indowestern inspired outfits, traditional Indian pieces, or cocktail attire. Our morning ceremony will be held indoors. Weather permitting, the lunch reception will be held out on the lawn.
We think there are only so many times in life to get dressed to the nines, so we have decided on a black tie optional for our evening celebrations! For gentlemen, we suggest either tuxes or classic dark suits. For ladies, we encourage floor-length dresses or evening pantsuits. Please note, our evening ceremony will be outside (weather permitting) and temperatures can begin to drop in the autumn evenings.
We are having a welcome party on Friday, October 18th at Killjoy Cocktail in downtown Raleigh. Please see the 'Welcome Event' tab above to RSVP. Sweet treats will be provided. We have decided to forego the traditional pre-wedding Indian ceremonies including the Mendhi, Haldi, and Sangeet.
If you would like to purchase Indian clothing to wear during the morning events, we suggest looking at the following sites: www.lashkaraa.com www.perniaspopupshop.com www.kalkifashion.com www.cbazaar.com www.utsavfashion.com www.indianweddingsaree.com If you live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, Sara Elegance is a great option for in person shopping. For the ladies, we suggest looking at the following styles: - Salwar Kameez / Suits - Lehenga - Saree (ready wear or pre-pleated) - Indowestern For the gentleman, we suggest looking at the following styles: - Kurta Pajama - Sherwani Pajama - Indowestern If you have any questions or need advice on selecting outfits, please email or text me! brigittebutler1@gmail.com (910) 398-3785
Please (1) ensure you add your names to RSVP cards (on the "M _____"), (2) initial next to dinner entree selection, and (3) add return addressing to the envelope. Kindly return your RSVP cards via mail by August 30th.
Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you receive a plus one, they will be included in your RSVP information.
Due to the nature of the celebration as well as the length of the multiple ceremonies during the day, we encourage guests to use this occasion as an opportunity for a date! Thank you for understanding!
Brigitte and Aakash will be traveling to France and Italy in April 2025 to celebrate!
