In February of 2020, both Shane and Brigid were on Match.com. As Shane always likes to say, Brigid reached out to him first by messaging him—after he "liked" her first haha. After some normal messages back and forth, Brigid asked Shane what he does for work. He responds that he works in Communications for the Orange County Sherriff Department and she followed up by asking: “Is that anything like ham radio? My dad and brothers were into that for a while.” He always tells everyone that he thought to himself “Oh my gosh she actually knows what that is!” Shane was sold that exact moment. They messaged on the app for not even 48 hours before he summoned the courage to ask her to dinner. She made him wait like 20 minutes before replying yes. They met that same evening for dinner at Lucille’s in Brea. He was wearing his shirt from work that has his first initial and last name: S. Faulkenberry. Brigid definitely had that moment of “whoa, what a last name!” They shut the restaurant down as they talked for hours. They bonded over Angels baseball, the Oscars ceremony, musicals, and ham radio. Brigid definitely liked how easy things felt with Shane. He had to see again her so they made plans for a second date only 2 days later, and ended up going on 7 dates within the first 12 days. The rest, as they say, is history.
