Mother of the Bride
Travel buddy extraordinaire. Pie making expert. Best bud and best mom wrapped up into one. My mom is someone who I can count on, through anything. She has quite literally seen me through it all, and has always made it known that she was just a phone call away. My favorite part about moving home from Virginia has been the ability to have impromptu dinners with my mom, rather than having to wait to see each other once or twice a year. We have shared so many laughs, board games, and ridiculous jokes about dancing O'Halloran's, snacking on rocks, childhood memories, and of course, the bird mafia. I love her to the moon and back again!
Mother of the Groom
The mother of the groom, also can be referred to as "Mama Hal". Mama Hal is the sweetest woman on the planet. She also struggles with punctuality. If you find Mama Hal wandering around on the morning of the ceremony, please scoop her up and deliver her to the event. She may ask you to take a picture on the way there. Please oblige her. Mama Hal, the bride, and the groom will appreciate your selfless act immensely.
Maid of Honor
Our friendship formed over cummerbunds, singing in historical sights, and the "H" section of a children's chorus. Liz is my oldest friend, and a steadfast reminder of the importance of learning and growing from each other across the years and miles. Thanks to Liz, every white piece of clothing I ever owned as a child is now tie-dyed, I have pushed the creative limits of what can be done with a cupcake, and I will always have an affinity for crafting. I'm so thankful that we're finally living in the same city again and for our big friendship.
Best Man
The brother of the groom, also affectionately referred to as "Bear Spray". Why is that his nickname you ask? Because Cory has hiked with the bride and groom before and has been physically incapable of being silent. Due to this "talent", the hiking party is never at any risk of being snuck up on by bears or any other wild animals.
Matron of Honor
Study abroad in London brought us together, and she's been my #rock #glue #foundation ever since. Katie and I have planned countless trips around the country and the world, and maintained a friendship. If that's not evidence of how strong this bond is, I don't know what is. We match each other's need to be on time and prepared, and we are always able to pick up where we left off over a bottle of wine and a plate of cheese. I know I can count on Katie to dance it out with me on this day and many more to come!
Groomsman
A childhood best friend of the groom, named in Matt's phone as Jonny Ice. Jon is the world's SECOND best NBA Jam player, speaks 5 languages (one of them is just a series of clicks paired with the word "acorn"), and is the worlds foremost expert on tall buildings.
Bridesmaid
Did you know that 8am hot chocolates are the foundation of friendship? Hot chocolates from the student center and an intro-level of psychology class brought Eliza into my life, and I couldn't be more thankful! Eliza is the type of friend who will surprise you with a Harry Potter Studio tour, brighten your life with cheese and her infectious laughter, ever-ready to exchange cute puppy photos, all while being a steady presence ready to help you talk through the big stuff. I would never share a trundle bed with anyone else!
Groomsman
A former kickball teammate of Matt's, along with being a cohost of their world famous podcast "The Anatomy Of". Zak is one of the few people who know EXACTLY where to stand at a general admission concert. He accomplishes this by triangulating the speakers, while also performing his own version of the Dougie. Don't ask me why he does the Dougie part. I also find it unnecessary.
Bridesmaid
Our first hang-out was a tour of all things Ithaca- farmer's market, waterfall swimming, and some delicious eats! Kelly is the type of person you just know you want to be friends with the first time you meet her. She's warm, genuine, and immediately shows enthusiasm towards you and your interests. Our home for the holidays hangouts were something I looked forward to every year when we were both living so far from home. We've stood next to each other for some pretty big moments- graduation from college, the line to get into Moonie's, her wedding, and now mine! I know we'll keep leaning on each other in years to come.
Groomsman
Adam is another one of the groom's childhood friends. Adam can be called "Kennel" or "the Man Beast". You can decide. The Man Beast is Adam's alter ego. Kind've like Clark Kent and Superman, but way less popular. The Man Beast is particularly skilled at inserting small images of Drake sitting into pictures. Kennel is great at detailing how to properly use a manual transmission
Groomsman
Rick was Matt's boss when he worked in the RGH lab! He was HIS BOSS! Ok they are also great friends but whatever ... Rick knows how to perform a magical spell that renders Matt unable to roll anything but 1's during a board game. To accomplish this, he asks Matt why leaves are the color green. Matt is then unable to NOT scientifically answer the question, and the spell runs it's course.
