Why not?!? With everything going on in 2020, no need to make this a more serious wedding then it has to be, let Halloween be a great opportunity to have fun with it! Those with kids who cannot go trick or treating - let this serve as another opportunity to dress them up and have fun at your own home. Plus, having a holiday as a wedding date makes remembering anniversaries easier!
We have been together for 7 years now and have been engaged since October of 2018. We had initially planned on doing a wedding in 2021 as we wanted a full year to plan everything, but in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we simply do not feel comfortable placing a deposit down for any sort of live event at the moment. We did not, however, want COVID-19 to slow our journey together and after attending a Zoom wedding we thought this would be a fun way to continue moving forward. Curious what a zoom wedding looks like? Check out this video that describes how it will work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CN8m-azK18
We will be getting married outside at Brice's parents' house in Aptos, CA. With it being the end of October, the sunset will be at around 6pm PT so we need to ensure that we have light outside and that it is not too bright either. We understand that for normal weddings no one needs to worry about time zones, but we fully acknowledge it may overlap with dinner or bed time for kids - that is okay! The beauty of this is that you can just walk away from the camera if you need to and it is no big deal. If you have other commitments that only allow you to attend for a little bit, we completely understand and are just glad you could be a part of this with us.
We've attended several virtual events throughout the pandemic. Bobby's brother had a virtual gender reveal and virtual baby shower and his Best Maid, Kim, had a virtual wedding. What we found to help make these events more exciting is to always have a cocktail! It's also a great time or reason to make or buy a cake at home. When it comes time to cut ours, enjoy a slice of your own at home with us as well! We also suggest creating a group chat with some of your friends who are also attending; it helps make it more interactive for folks given people would be chatting during a normal reception.
We miss you too! We are planning to have a celebratory party in person at a future date. We don't know what the future holds so we cannot say for sure when it will be but we look forward to celebrating a future anniversary or vow renewal in person with you all at a later date!
Do not worry! If you are at all concerned about technological issues, please let either of us know and we will work to organize a trial session so that we can address any and all questions ensuring a great experience.
