As much of the dating world happens these days, we met online. He swiped right, I was skeptical. The one thing that drew me to read more into his profile was his catch phrase, "I'm looking for my yellow umbrella." Some of you may know that is the story from the TV show How I Met Your Mother. Little did Allen know, I own that yellow umbrella. We talked for a couple weeks then decided to meet one Sunday at a coffee shop, November 12th. I considered this day to be the day we started dating because after that first date, he was the only guy I talked to.

Allen and I had went to Minnesota for the weekend before New Years to see the Viking's play the Bears. I was more excited to go to IKEA. He is a Viking's fan, I could care less about football. But most of you that know me know I like to be an instigator, so I cheered for the Bears. The Bears happened to win that game. We were staying in Hutchinson, MN with our friends Chris and Shelby through New Years. On New Years Eve we all went out for a fancy dinner at Zellas then continued the night playing board games. Allen was frequently updating us on the time and when there was only a few minutes left before the new year we ventured into the living room to watch the ball drop. At that moment, he got down on one knee to profess his love for me with a ring.
