Seizing the opprutunity of a rare weekend away from the hospital, Mike tells Bri they will be visiting his patents in Nashville over his birthday weekend. Bri, fresh off an overnight call shift and very sleep deprived, realizes that she is actually traveling to New Orleans when they arrive at the airport. Little does she know at the time, the events of that weekend had been planned many months in advance with the help of her wonderful friends and family in New Orleans and that her life was about to change forever. Under the guise of a birthday celebration weekend, they checked into a beautiful suite at the Maison de la Luz where birthday cake and ice cold champaign was waiting. Never being ones to let cold champaign go to waste, they dive in and hit the streets of New Orleans. They end up having a lovely brunch at Coppervine and head towards the river after. Soon they are riding down the Mississippi river aboard the Creole Queen when the generally overcast sky opens up to a beautiful sunny day. And it was there, on the second deck of the Creole Queen on 3/20/21 that Mike very awkwardly asks Bri to spend the rest of her life with him. She says yes! Bri, then quickly realizing the real reason they came to New Orleans, begins calling everyone she knows to spread the news. Strangely enough, very few of her friends in Nola answer her calls, including her parents. Mike explains, “just one more stop at Seaworthy for a quick drink with just the two of us, then you may see your friend”. They walk up to a short line outside of Seaworthy and the host identifies Mike in the crowd and says, “there you are, lets go”. The host brings Mike and Bri back to the patio where all of Bri’s incredible friends and family are there waiting for a champaign toast.
