It was 2011 and Bri was in her second year working full-time in Boston, having made the move to New England after four years at Princeton in New Jersey. For the Southern California native, her surroundings were getting colder with each move. Things started to heat up a bit when she began taking classes at Boston University as part of the part-time MBA program. After a full day of work, she would get in her car and rush to the Management building in Kenmore square, hoping to get there early enough to find a parking spot and grab “dinner” at Starbucks. In the midst of this chaos, she found herself often sharing the elevator up from the parking garage with the same guy. While they didn’t have any classes together, they began to recognize each other "from the elevator.” She later learned his name was Jarid. Jarid grew up on Cape Cod and attended college in Rhode Island at Roger Williams University. Soon after graduation, Jarid bought a house in Quincy, MA. In between home renovations, a full-time job and studying for the CFA, Jarid also elected to begin taking classes towards his MBA. Bri and Jarid didn’t get the chance to officially meet until the following semester during a BU MBA formal event at Top of the Hub in Back Bay. Towards the end of the night, Jarid came up to introduce himself. But he really sealed the deal when he started showing Bri pictures of his two yellow labs, Dakota and Lily and how he hoped to have more puppies in the next few years. (Is it a coincidence that Bri moved into Jarid's house in Quincy when Lily's puppy, Runtski, was born?) Jarid proposed on March 11th, 2018 at the neighborhood dog park overlooking the ocean with a ring made using both of his grandmothers’ diamonds. Oblivious to the momentous occasion was Runtski, tail wagging and tongue flopping, happily running by their side. To her, it was just another day. To Bri and Jarid, it was a day both had been waiting for their whole lives.
