March 29th is in the middle of the famous D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival and peak cherry blossom bloom is predicted for March 28-31st! March 29th is also the Blossom Kite Festival. This festival is held around the Washington Monument, features thousands of amazing kites, and is free and open to the public. Brookside Gardens is Montgomery County’s award-winning 50-acre public display garden within Wheaton Regional Park. Included in the gardens are several distinct areas: Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, Trial Garden, Rain Garden, and the Woodland Walk. Some early spring flowers should be in bloom. The park is about a 15 minute drive from the hotels.
Take the Red Line metro to Metro Center, and walk from there or transfer to the Orange/Blue/Silver line and go to Smithsonian Station and take a tour of the National Mall or visit some Smithsonian Museums.
