Bently and Briana first met after an Ole Miss football game at The Cellar — a favorite hangout spot for them both in college. At the time, Bently worked as a bouncer there and Briana was a frequent patron with her sorority sisters. That night, Briana spotted Bently off-duty across the bar and decided to introduce herself. Sparks flew instantly over shared drinks and conversation. On a whim, Briana asked, “What are you doing next weekend?” When Bently said he was free, she invited him to her sorority formal. He eagerly handed over his phone and she texted herself: "Yo formal - 100% serious!” One week later, they went to that formal and discovered just how much they had in common — a passion for sports, food and drinks, music, and a sense of humor. They both still describe it as one of the best nights of their lives. After some persistent (and charming) courting from Bently, the two quickly became inseparable. On January 28, 2017, Bently planned a special date: an Ole Miss basketball game, dinner at Boure, and, naturally, drinks at The Cellar. Nervous but determined, he finally looked at Briana and said, “In case it’s not obvious…I’m trying to ask you to be my girlfriend.” Briana laughed and happily said yes, and they celebrated in the place where it all began!

When Briana's engagement ring came in early, Bently saw the perfect opportunity to propose: they would be in Mississippi over Christmas, visiting family and spending time in Oxford. The only challenge would be persuading Briana to get dressed for dinner early, so they could run an "important errand" at Ole Miss. With the help of his sister Farris, Bently convinced Briana to get ready and to stop by campus before dinner. When Briana saw they were approaching The Grove, she grew slightly suspicious. But since she believed the ring hadn’t even arrived yet, she brushed the thought off. As they started making their way down the Walk of Champions, the iconic path that Ole Miss football players take before every home game, Bently stopped and got down on one knee. He confessed there was in fact no errand to run, and they were there for only one reason. He then grabbed Briana's hand and asked her to marry him. Shocked but overjoyed, she said yes! Afterwards, Bently and Briana went to The Square to celebrate with a drink at Boure, and of course, take a picture in front of the legendary establishment where their relationship started: The Cellar. Later, they continued the celebration at a holiday party with Bently's extended family. It was truly a magical day they will never forget!
