Nearly a decade ago, two high school students became interested in one another during a flurry of marching band practices for the Veteran's Day Parade in NYC. After a night under the Brooklyn Bridge, Brian finally held Maggie's hand, bringing about the question: Does this mean we're more than friends? Brian and Maggie made it through high school at Bald Eagle Area, and undergraduate and graduate degrees at Penn State Harrisburg side-by-side. Maggie introduced Brian to wedding photography and cooking with homegrown ingredients. Brian taught Maggie how to climb a tree with ropes and how to run a chainsaw. The list went on. They both discovered The Office and rapidly fell in love with Hamilton: An American Musical. They've traveled the east coast together, from Chincoteague, VA to Madison, CT, enjoying all sorts of food and views along the way. They've lived in Centre County, Hershey, Middletown, Lewisberry, and York throughout the years. No matter what, they've always stayed close to each other. Now after many years, Brian and Maggie are finally getting hitched!
Our original idea was to go out to dinner to celebrate our birthdays, but the ice and snow had other plans. We instead decided to go to Wegman's and cook ourselves a lovely dinner. Little did Maggie know, this was the day that I was going to propose. Once we had everything from Wegman's and got back home, I took her around to the front of the house and said, "This is where we decorated for Halloween, and where I hope to decorate many more holidays with you." I then took her around to the back of the house to our herb garden and said, "This is where we grew amazing food and where I hope to have many more summers of basil and veggies." We went inside to the kitchen and I said, "This is where we cook food together and enjoyed all the great memories. This is also where I hope to have many more dinners with you and have our friends and family over." The last stop was the bedroom, where I had candles and roses all over the room. I led her into the room and said, "And this is where I ask you to marry me, where I hope to hold you every night and wake up to you every morning." At that point we were both crying, but I got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry me. She said yes!
