It all started with a ten-day trip to Israel in July of 2010. That's right, we are THAT couple who met on Birthright - who knew?! We were a group of 40 "adults" from around the country and most of us knew nothing about each other - save for a few couples here and there. While the majority of our group spent a good amount of time getting to know each other and doing team building exercises, Brett was busy recouping from a raucous few days of being on sets and living a very active social life - he had no new desire to make new friends. Flash forward to day seven of the journey where we struck up a conversation about acting, living in LA, music that inspires us, and so much more. By the final leg of our trip in Israel, we had become inseparable and made every effort to stay connected - whether on our 12-hour flight back home to the states, via gChat and Google Video (yes, this was pre-FaceTime), or regular trips to each others home turfs - Connecticut and Louisiana, respectively. In August of 2010, Brett visited Louisiana for the first time and dawned his first tutu for Red Dress Run (it was for a good cause!) in New Orleans, setting the precedent for what was to come: a lifetime of fun, laughter and adventure. We spent hours on end talking to each other and by the time October of that year rolled around, we knew we had built something truly special. Just before Thanksgiving, Lexi's apartment in Baton Rouge was packed up and Brett flew down to help driver her halfway across the country - they were moving in together! Talk about a leap of faith. Here we are eight full years later and things couldn't be better - same apartment, same best friend and life partner, and new parts of life that keep things fresh and exciting. We are so thrilled to be embarking on this next chapter and can't wait to celebrate with all of you! Thank you for being a part of our journey - here's to creating the next adventure on May 25!
It all started on Lexi's birthday while we were on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Brett set up an impromptu scavenger hunt for Lexi, which resulted in her getting birthday gift number 1: a pre-booked appoint at her favorite nail salon the city. Nails were to be beautified at 5:30pm on the day they returned to the city (April 11) and from there, Brett said there were plans for dinner at 7:30. Sounded great! After nails, Brett picked Lexi up and off they went to the next destination, which actually wasn't dinner at all - it was Central Park for a carriage ride (yes, white carriage, white horse, the whole thing). We climbed up into the carriage where our driver promptly captured some keepsake photos and asked if we wanted "the full tour", complete with little known facts about one of the greatest parks in the country. We obliged and he asked how long we'd be visiting NYC for (ha!). While on our ride, Brett remained cool, calm and collected (as he does so naturally). After we passed Bethesda Terrace, our driver told us about Cherry Hill and happily debunked the myth that the opening credits to "Friends" was, in fact, NOT filmed there - it was a set on the lot of Universal. It was here that he asked if we wanted to take a photo, to which Brett agreed we should - so we did. When we got out, we got in position for our photo to be taken and that's when it happened. Brett got down on one knee and the rest, as we say, is history. Once our ride through the park was complete, Brett noted that we needed to be somewhere else ASAP - Lexi, still assumed there was dinner to be had. Wrong. The next destination was the Penthouse (!!!) of the Plaza Hotel, which was filled with loved ones, including Lexi's mom and her sister, Brett's entire family, longtime friends from Birthright (!), and so many others. We're so lucky to have found each other and to be able to celebrate our love with all of you! Thank you for being a part of it all.
How did you first meet? See Our Story! Who made the first move? How? This was all Brett! We were walking through an ancient city tour on Birthright and Brett asked if I wanted to listen to music with him: "Past my shades" by B.o.B - the rest is history. Who's going to take out the trash? Depends on what time it is. Probably Brett, if we're being honest. :) What was your most memorable date? Too many to count! Highlights include: Brett at Red Dress Run, fun at Universal Studios, playing tourists at the Harry Potter Museum, movie viewings at the Paris Theater, delicious date nights at Cosme, The Pool, Simon & The Whale, and so many others. What's your favorite activity together? Cooking and eating. Where are you going for your honeymoon? TBD! Where should we go? What's the best meal you have eaten together? A multi-course meal at Quadri in Venice - EPIC. What's the most memorable trip you have taken together? Italy - hands down! We explored the canals of Venice and went to the Venice Film Festival, flew to the Amalfi Coast and walked the streets of Pompeii, and then took the train to Florence where we ate our weight in pasta and explored the Tuscan country side.
