John had told me that we were going to dinner up on the Capital Square with a few of his college friends. Since it was the day after Thanksgiving the Madison Capital was beautifully lit up for Christmas so I told John I wanted to walk the long way to dinner so we could see all the lights. We started walking around the capital building and when we got to the top of the steps and John turned to me and said that he was incredibly thankful to have me in his life. At that moment it started to click what was about to happen. John dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I don't remember saying yes in the moment, but John clarified later that I did. After realizing we were now 30 minutes late for dinner, we rushed to the restaurant to only find both of our families at the restaurant waiting for us. It was the greatest way to celebrate surrounded by family in a city that both of us cherish greatly!
Dear Family and Friends, We hope you are healthy and safe during this time, and we appreciate all the love and support we’ve received from each of you. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created much uncertainty, we will be proceeding with our wedding on August 28, 2021. We understand that the situation is in constant flux, but based on the current CDC guidelines and the recommendations of our state, we feel that we will be safe to gather and celebrate. With that said, we strongly encourage everyone planning on attending to take all steps within their control to prioritize the health and safety of themselves and others at the event. Please feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we cannot wait to be together with you in person! Love, Lauren & John
