The scene was set: Monmouth University, Marketing Management class, Spring Semester Day 1. She walked in and noticed the cute man sitting against the wall in his brown dress shoes and button up. She strategically sat 2 rows over, leaving 1 chair inbetween them. Close, but not tooo close. He, posting up against the classroom wall, noticed as the cute woman entered the classroom. He cleared his throat and sat a little bit straighter. As fate would have it, they were assigned a semester long group project which led to exchanging of numbers and meeting at the library on weekends. (There were 2 other group members, but we've eliminated them for dramatic effect.) When the two learned of each others passion for running, they set a date to meet at the Ocean Grove boardwalk for a run on the morning of Cinco De Mayo 2019. They woke to find it pouring cats and dogs, but a bit of rain was not going to keep them apart! After a less than ideal, soggy, wet run, Brett invited Sam to brunch at Meemoms in Middletown. Enjoying each others company and not wanting their date to end, the two decided to keep the fun going and headed to Red Rock in Red Bank for some festive margaritas! After 3 dates packed into 1 amazing day, they both knew this was the beginning of something great...
On Monday April 12th, Brett and Sam decided to play hookie from their hectic jobs. Little did Sam know, Brett had a bigger plan... The day started with breakfast mimoas at My Kitchen Witch in Monmouth Beach. When the waitress asked, "whats the occasion?!" Sam laughed and said, "just because its Monday!" (talk about a cosmic foreshadow!) After breakfast, on yet another rainy morning, Brett took Sam back to the boardwalk where they first went to run. It was dreary and cold, and quite honestly Sam had no idea why Brett wanted to go for a walk, but she obliged. Brett stepped out onto the sand, but a gust of wind prompted Sam to turn back and head for cover. When she felt his absense beside her, she turned around and found Brett down on one knee, smiling. Completely shocked and speechless, she mustered a yes!! Definitely YES!
At this point, the majority of our relationship has been spent since the onset of the pandemic. After months of working from home together, all day every day (and not driving eachother crazy) we figure if we could survive this, we can survive anything <3
