How we met.

Brett and Lisa met a couple of times at Monk's back in 2011. One of those nights was while Lisa was bartending there, Brett's friend agreed to stay until she locked up so she wouldn't be alone but Brett seemed a little annoyed. Regardless, Lisa still felt a spark. Brett did not frequent Monk's so when Lisa saw him at local show, Dredge at the Lift, she thought she might have a chance to get to know him better. Instead, he seemed panicked to see her and swiftly walked passed her and towards the front of the stage. Lisa thought to herself, 'Oh well' and went home early. A day or two later Lisa woke up to a Facebook message with Brett asking where she went. Lisa responded with her cell number and he used it. They went to dinner soon thereafter and he took her to the house he was renting with three other guys in Bellevue, IA. When it was getting late, Brett drove her all the way home to Dubuque. At Lisa's apartment, he met Lisa's dog Archer, he kissed her on her cheek, then she gave him a quick kiss on the lips. The next day he asked if she wanted to go to a show in Iowa City that same week (a band not called Sonic Youth with Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore) and they did. The rest is history. Nearly four years later they became the proud parents to a beautiful firecracker named Maude Simone. They also have shared custody of a split foyer home. You might ask what took them so long to finally set a wedding date. Well, that really cannot be summed up here, but rest assured the timing is right and their commitment to one another is real. Recently, they lost a loved one whose nickname is Big. Big has helped them see more clearly what matters most in the time we are given here on planet earth, and that is LOVE. Let's celebrate!
