The closest bigger town to the wedding is Hofn. I don't have anything booked yet for the reception, but we are staying at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon out of convenience before & after the wedding. We may go to the other side of the island by Wednesday so that we can explore more. We plan to be in Iceland on March 19 & leave March 28/29, but we know that your plans may differ. We hope to have a couple of group activities scheduled throughout so that no matter where your travels take you, we can visit a time or two. As you look to book a hotel, please research your location & take note of the fact that most hotels in the area are not like hotels in the U.S. Icelandic hotels are very simple & frequently have twin beds pushed together for a double size bed. Some have shared bathrooms & living spaces with other rooms & you are only booking a locked room with beds in it. IcelandAir has free stopovers in Iceland (a long layover) for up to 7 days if you want to go to Europe on the same trip

Depending on your dates of travel, you can fly into Hofn from Reykjavik but the only flights to Hofn are from Reykjavik. IcelandAir offers stopovers (layovers) up to 7 days in Iceland if you would like to include a trip to Europe into your vacation. If you fly IcelandAir (which seems to be the most affordable option), you will have to fly another airline from Omaha to Denver, Minneapolis, Boston, NYC, DC, etc, so please keep in mind that you will need to pick up luggage & re-check it & proceed through security in that connecting airport, so give yourself a long layover to do so.
